A Debut That Made Noise: OPT’s First Canton Fair

A Debut That Made Noise: OPT’s First Canton Fair

Every business cherishes its debut milestone. For OPT, this pivotal moment came in May 2025, when we made our first official appearance at the Canton Fair. This remarkable debut has reshaped global perceptions of Chinese label and packaging manufacturing.

Hosted in Guangzhou, the 137th China Import and Export Fair ranks as the world’s largest trade exhibition. Each session attracts over 200,000 international buyers for product sourcing, comparison and cooperative negotiation. As a mid-sized packaging manufacturer based in Jingjiang, Jiangsu Province, securing an exhibition booth itself carried profound significance. It demonstrated our ambition to step onto the global stage, embrace professional inquiries and strict tests, and showcase our core strengths to the world.

We participated in Phase 3 of the fair, running from May 1 to 5. This phase focuses on health products, food, textiles and stationery, fields where packaging and labeling serve as core functional components. They are never mere decorative accessories, but key guarantees for product safety, regulatory compliance and brand competitiveness on retail shelves. This targeted exhibition sector perfectly matched our business layout, and we were fully prepared for in-depth professional exchanges with global buyers.

The fair brought us abundant high-quality traffic. Over five exhibition days, OPT’s booth received more than 1,200 international visitors. These professional buyers and partners came from Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Europe and the Americas, covering distributors, enterprise procurement managers and brand owners. Many of them had rarely seen a Chinese label manufacturer that proactively displays complete production processes and compliance documents on-site to deliver transparent and trustworthy services.

Our booth design adhered to a core principle of letting product strength speak for itself. The sample booth fully displayed our comprehensive manufacturing capabilities, including deep-freeze resistant thermal-transfer shipping labels, FDA-certified food-safe adhesive films, and high-temperature resistant tags that can withstand temperatures of 200°C and above. All samples were accessible for visitors to touch, bend and inspect in detail. Every product advantage was fully supported by authoritative test reports, official certification numbers and intuitive comparisons with ordinary generic products.

The most impressive part of the exhibition was not the huge visitor volume, but the professionalism of buyers’ inquiries. Instead of simply asking for price lists, they focused on core technical details. They consulted about substrate migration rates under high-temperature filling environments, the performance differences between rubber-based and acrylic adhesives for cold-chain logistics, and our UL certification qualifications including MH48267 and MH60774 for electronic component labeling. These targeted and professional questions came from experienced practitioners who had encountered unqualified suppliers with empty promises before. Our team accurately answered every inquiry, backed by years of accumulated production data, professional laboratory test results and practical export market cases.

The booth maintained a vibrant and professional atmosphere throughout the fair. Buyers’ attitudes underwent a distinct shift during on-site inspections. Initial skepticism gradually turned into curiosity, and finally into firm recognition of our product quality. A UAE distributor spent forty minutes testing all adhesive samples at our booth and affirmed the unique advantages of our products compared with mainstream alternatives. A European buyer who initially passed by our booth returned immediately after learning about our excellent anti-static label performance from neighboring exhibitors, and finalized a factory visit arrangement for the following month.

Strong on-site performance delivered tangible results. OPT secured over USD 120,000 in confirmed formal orders during the fair. This achievement is outstanding for a first-time exhibitor. More importantly, we built a high-quality follow-up client pipeline. Dozens of intentional cooperation dialogues were launched, customized sample deliveries were completed within 48 hours, and procurement teams from three continents started the official supplier qualification review process for OPT.

The excellent exhibition performance stemmed from the team’s months of meticulous preparation. We carefully selected all display samples, translated professional technical documents into five languages, and conducted systematic training for all staff. The training covered not only comprehensive product expertise, but also the cultural characteristics and differentiated demands of buyers from different regions. We clearly understood the diverse needs of global clients, ranging from Japanese buyers’ strict requirements for dimensional tolerance to American buyers’ focus on stable delivery lead times, and we delivered targeted professional responses.

The Canton Fair also served as a valuable market research platform for us. In-depth communication with global buyers helped us identify untapped market demands and product portfolio gaps. European markets show rising demand for compostable eco-friendly label materials, the pharmaceutical industry needs more tamper-evident security seals, and the global food supply chain has an increasing requirement for QR-code smart labels. We collected abundant first-hand market information to guide our product upgrading and R&D layout for the next two years.

Offline exhibitions also brought unique serendipitous cooperation opportunities that online channels cannot replicate. A Brazilian buyer who came for food-grade packaging accidentally noticed our industrial heat-resistant labels. He found the products could perfectly solve the long-standing technical problems of his automotive division and initiated in-depth cooperation discussions. A Thai distributor focusing on logistics shipping labels was attracted to our moisture-resistant pharmaceutical tags and requested on-site sample support. Such cross-category matching is impossible in precise online searches, fully proving the irreplaceable value of offline face-to-face exhibitions.

When the 137th Canton Fair officially closed, the OPT team stayed at the booth to review and summarize the gains of the event. This debut marked a crucial transformation for OPT. We are no longer just a manufacturing factory in Jiangsu, but a trusted and memorable brand recognized and recommended by global professional buyers. Our international development journey has officially started, and we will stick to the original intention of full preparation, sincere communication and quality-oriented development to move forward steadily in the global market.
